Metal Detecting an Elementary School

A buddy and I got out and did some metal detecting at a local elementary school the night before last.  Here is the haul that my
Garrett AT Pro sniffed out.  A whopping 17 clad coins worth $1.16.  I wish I had something exciting to share, but that was it for this outing.

Well, it was a fun hunt, even if it wasn’t profitable.  I only dug a half dozen trash targets, and I kind of expected them to be trash.  It is tough to pass those up though, since gold falls in that same range.

There wasn’t a whole lot of age on this site.  The school was built in 1963.  We were actually headed to an older location, but there was too much activity there so we opted to defer to this site.

When I got home, I pulled up the address on HISTORICAERIALS.COM and did a little research on the old satellite images.  I found out that there were some buildings on this land that pre-dated the school.  These were located in an area that I didn’t search the other night.  So I have this spot on my list of places to check out again, and will give this area a closer look.  If you haven’t check out HISTORICAERIALS.COM, give it a look.  You have the ability to transition between old and recent satellite images.  This is great for helping you discover what ‘used to exist’ in specific locations, and can really turn you on to some hot spots.  Enjoy!
